Simple Streaming Video Is Here!

There's now a seismic shift on the internet from text/picture based marketing to text/video based marketing, so if you still haven't got streaming video on your site, you're missing out sharply on:

  • better opt-in rates for your squeeze pages (with increases as high as 50%)
  • improved conversion rates for your sales pages
  • increased AdSense revenues because visitors will return more frequently if you have video on your site.

There are very few products which would not benefit from a video demonstrating the product in action. For many markets, simple streaming video opens up a whole new raft of products. For example, if your web site deals with sports, martial arts or anything of a practical nature from quilt-making to car maintenance, you now have the huge profit potential of video products, with zero fulfillment costs.

And video not only has a higher perceived value than an e-book, it's also far faster and easier to create -- avoiding hours of painstaking proof reading and correction.

Also, there are some brand new, little known, sources of good free traffic there for the taking -- once you have video.

The good news is it's now so simple -- and it even works for dial up. And, by getting in now, you may be the very first in your niche to grab this extra free traffic.

It wasn't that long ago you had to pay $150-200 a month for a special dedicated video server and the quality wasn't much even then. Now it couldn't be easier: you put a snippet of code onto your web page and load a small compressed Flash file into your "Files" section, save it to your usual server and you're done.

Are You Throwing Your Money Away On Advertising?

Would you take a few crisp hundred dollar bills out of your pocket and throw them away? Probably not, but that's exactly what you do all the time, if you pay to advertise your web site and here's why . . .

These are the conversion rates via a squeeze page, so called because it squeezes the name and e-mail address out of the visitor before they can access the web site.

** Of subscribers recruited via paid advertising 19% responded and 81% logged off

** Of subscribers recruited via recommendation (affiliates) 47% and 53% logged off

** Of subscribers recruited via my zero cost method 72% and only 28% logged off

Can you see the absolute irony of this method? By paying for your advertising, you're not only risking your investment will show a profit, you're also -- because of the poor conversion rate -- effectively paying twice. On the other hand, my method costs nothing, yet produces three times the result.

So why the vast disparity?

Simple: it depends on how much information the visitor has before you invite them to give their details on the squeeze page. With just an advert the visitor has learnt by bitter experience to be suspicious. Hardly surprising, when faced with the do or die proposition of a squeeze page, four out of five AdWords visitors simply log off the site, without signing up.

With a recommendation from a trusted third party -- such as an affiliate -- the response is doubled. This dramatic difference relies on the relationship the visitor already has with the affiliate. The more the affiliate is trusted, the higher the conversion rate.

So, the more confident your visitor is about your unfamiliar web site, the more likely they will subscribe to your newsletter. This is a vital first step to building a good, long term relationship with them. Then, you'll be in the ideal position of having customers who will buy pretty much everything you offer.

Not for nothing is the internet called the information super highway, because people mainly come to the internet seeking information. In fact, unlike the off-line world, where stores vie for the best locations, how good your information is defines where in the internet shopping mall you come.

But, suppose instead of spending all those sleepless nights worrying about your advertising budget disappearing faster than a politician's promise you made a simple -- yet very smart -- move and arranged for some good information that acted like hundreds of full page advertisements for your business sprinkled around the internet, where the very people you wanted to attract already congregate.

But suppose you were really, really smart and didn't pay any money for any of this. Would getting free traffic, which responded three times better than traffic you paid for, make a big difference to your profits?

Of course it would!

This method is tried and tested and the one which has served me very well. It's also the method used very successfully to launch the careers of many of the other big names on the internet, such as Yanik Silver, Jim Edwards, Michael Cheney and Steven Pierce. Yet, despite being the most effective and totally free, it's also the simplest. So simple, you might dismiss it as not worth the bother. That would be a very big mistake, particularly as I've now fitted a turbocharger, so it works like crazy!

And, one of my refinements mean you no longer have to be in a constant state of anxiety about search engines. You can ignore them completely! At last you're blissfully free of pandering to their whims. Even so, you'll find you'll actually get free traffic from the search engines, almost immediately you start this simple method. Yet you no longer have to bother with tweaking your web site or spending days employing search engine optimization methods -- or paying some SEO expert -- because this will happen without any extra effort on your part.

And here's an interesting thought: the poor people who still pay for advertising, because they aren't smart enough to use my free and far more effective methods, will actually end up paying you money! Why? Because they will be funding the extra passive income you can easily generate by placing AdSense ads on your web site, paid for by them. It's about as close to heaven as you can get without actually dying!

Long Time No See

Today, I bumped into a guy I hadn't seen for over three years.

The last time we met was when we both attended a internet marketing seminar. It was my very first seminar, after I discovered the internet, and we two newbies shared a taxi cab back to the train station, after the seminar on that Friday.

I was all fired up with enthusiasm and couldn't wait to put into practice all I had learnt that day.

By contrast, my companion dismissed the day's contents and all the material we were taking away to study, saying he might glance at it over the upcoming weekend, but he doubted he'd have time as he had this to do and that to attend to . . .

Then for the rest of the taxi journey he launched into a monologue about how terrible his job was and how he couldn't wait to find something else.

So, three years on, I have several web sites and ideas for a few more. I'm a published author with several books and many articles to my credit. I've held several of my own internet seminars, which have been well received and life is great!

And what of my friend, today? Well, he spent all the time - until I managed to escape - telling me how terrible his job was and how he couldn't wait to find something else . . .

Mrs Hooper-Kelly, "You're fired!"

I'm a great fan of Donald Trump. So, when the latest series of "The Apprentice" started, last night, I was eagerly looking forward to seeing it.

As the program was scheduled for the wee small hours and I'm an "early to bed, early to rise" type, I decided to videotape the program to watch it the following day.

So I carefully programmed the VCR and went to bed - my wife following very shortly after.
This morning, it became apparent, my wife - due to force of habit - had done her usual environmentally conscious routine and turned off the power to the TV/VCR array!

Fortunately the program is repeated tonight. Needless to say, I will be cordoning off the area around the power sockets, with razor wire, tonight!

I don't watch "The Apprentice" for the entertainment value, and nor should you. It is a double master class in business success, for these two reasons.

First there is the obvious factor of how the apprentices tackle each progressively harder task. These are real world situations, which can translate directly to marketing on-line. For example, I vividly remember when the two groups were tasked with publicizing a new bridal shop.
The losing group, made the cardinal error of simply standing in Grand Central Station, handing out flyers to anyone who would take them.

It's easy sitting in your armchair, instead of being there, but a second's thought should have made them realize the numbers were not on their side: how many people walking out of the station on that particular day would likely be getting married in the near future. Very few.

The other team, meanwhile, got themselves an opt-in e-mail list of people about to get married.
No prizes for guessing who won, in this master class for targeted marketing. It was buckshot versus sniper's rifle.

And in every program, you get another master class: how you should brand yourself.

From the moment the opening credits roll and you get a shot of Donald Trump's private jet with "Trump" in huge letters, to the closing credits, you are bombarded with the Trump Brand. One program, as I recall, even involved the two teams vying to sell the highest quantities of Trump Ice - a brand of water with a picture of you know who on the label.

Of course, the very name "Trump" is an asset, so you get the mimeonic of Trump Tower and Trump International Hotel and Tower, plus Trump Mortgage and Trump Restaurants.

And if you log onto the Trump web site, guess whose picture greets you?

It's all brilliant branding in a world that is getting increasingly more personal.
So, if you want to give your business a unique and personal face, you would do well to study "The Apprentice" and Donald Trump and then go and do it even better.

In the meantime, I won't mention the faux pas to my wife - I don't want her to do an Ivana on me!
